Errol Weiss has been chief security officer of the Health Information Sharing and Analysis Center for three years and during that time, the healthcare sector has undergone a historic revolution in the digital delivery of services to patients. Also in that time, the attack surface has grown exponentially. How can entities best defend it?

In this interview with Information Security Media Group as part of the CyberEdBoard‘s ongoing Profiles in Leadership series, Weiss discusses:

  • His career path in the public and private sectors;
  • Healthcare’s exponential digital expansion – and broadening attack surface;
  • The value of networking with and supporting healthcare organizations in times of crisis and mentoring his own team on training and career goals.

Weiss is Health-ISAC’s chief security officer. He has over 25 years of experience in information security, beginning his career with the National Security Agency conducting penetration tests of classified networks. He created and ran Citigroup’s Cyber Intelligence Center and was a senior vice president executive with Bank of America’s Global Information Security team. Weiss has a master’s degree in technical management from Johns Hopkins University and a bachelor’s degree in computer engineering from Bucknell University.
