February 26th, 2024: In this special Sneak Peek for Season 1 of UnHack (the podcast) with Drex DeFord, we are excited to discuss The Healthcare and Public Health Sector Coordinating Council (HSCC) 5-year strategic plan with Greg Garcia, Executive Director. This conversation was just too good and timely to wait, so we are sharing it with you today! With this 5 year plan, the goal is to make it easy for hospitals to work together for effective cyber defense. So, are all organizations in the healthcare spectrum ready to rise to the call to implement it? And how does this dovetail with the burgeoning areas of practice such as hospital-at-home, healthcare on-demand, and artificial intelligence, among others? We all have a part to play in achieving the strategic goals for safer, more effective healthcare delivery in an increasingly digital and interconnected world.

Based on the projected sector trends, specific cybersecurity goals are identified to address the potential impact of sector trends.
“Goal nine says the Health and Public Health (HPH) sector has established and implemented preparedness, response, and resilience strategies to enable uninterrupted access to healthcare technology and services. Basically, information sharing and incident response. How do you improve your information sharing? Increase the membership of the Health-ISAC to have as broad and deep of a community as possible, so that, if the community is forewarned, they are forearmed,” says Greg Garcia, Executive Director, Cyber Security, Health Sector Coordinating Council.
